This GTO-developed course is designed to provide students with instant life- saving knowledge on what to do BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER a disaster strikes. It is a lecture based course that utilizes international protocol but is localized to better fit the particular scenarios facing the Philippines where the scenarios and local variables often demand different actions and considerations. The focus is on Earthquakes, Typhoons and Flooding as the most likely events and historically the most likely mass- casualty and injury producing disasters in the Philippines.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Develop an emergency evacuation plan for their home or workplace
- Prepare the necessary emergency kits and make them available at any given time
- Know appropriate emergency actions before, during and after an emergency or disaster – Earthquake, Typhoon, Flooding
